Tour update

Wow! What a very cool two weeks we’ve just had playing some of the European and Scandinavian dates of the ‘Ghosts of Pripyat’ tour. The audiences have been fantastic and each night left us all excited for the next show. We have so far played in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Holland, France and Belgium. A big thanks to everyone who came along.

If you haven’t seen the band yet, there are a lot of videos now appearing on YouTube from the shows to give you the feel of how cool these gigs have been. Having the splendid Martin Jakubski on vocals, our great road crew and the very talented Ranestrane with us really has been so much fun.

Ghosts of Pripyat update

Hi all,

Dave Foster here. Welcome to the new website, doesn’t it look cool! There will be numerous updates for you as and when we have news. Steve has been busy bringing all of this project together and it’s fair to say that he can multi task like no other human I know. As for the album, we have been making great progress and following the very enjoyable sessions at both Real World and The Racket Club, we now have the lions share of the backing tracks done and Steve is currently recording his guitar parts for the album. It’s genuinely exciting hearing these tracks evolve and they really are sounding fantastic. From the first Steve Rothery Band gig in Plovdiv, Bulgaria to this has been a rapid and truly enjoyable experience and as any writer or arranger will tell you, some albums can take years to be ‘right’ but ‘The Ghosts of Pripyat’ has grown so organically and naturally that it is still fresh in the ears of each of the band members…this is a very good sign. Also, the band now has a keyboard player, the incredibly talented Riccardo Romano who also plays keyboards in the Italian band Ranestrane , special guests on nearly all of the  ’The Ghosts of Pripyat’ tour.

If you haven’t already pre-ordered your copy of the album, it’s now available in both versions to pre-order directly from the Marillion Online Store . There’s also a pre-order for the ‘Live in Rome’ DVD recorded earlier this year. The tour dates are now up on the site too and if you haven’t already ordered your tickets then make sure you do soon as every gig is selling really well, you wouldn’t want to miss out would you?

See you all soon

Dave

‘Live In Rome’ CD/DVD

We are pleased to announce the release a brand new CD/DVD set titled ‘Live In Rome’.

The Steve Rothery band ‘Live in Rome’ CD/DVD captures a great evening of live music as we premier some of the tracks from ‘The Ghosts of Pripyat’ album (released on September 22nd) and also play various classic Marillion songs with inspired performances from several guest vocalists.

‘The Rome concert was only the second time my band had performed together but they are some of the finest musicians I’ve ever worked with and the concert was an unforgettable experience. The incredible interest I’m getting for the studio album from all round the world makes this an important record of the progression of the project.’

The studio album will feature guest appearances by Steve Hackett, Don Airey and other name musicians and Steve will be touring around the world in support of it from October 2014.

Steve Rothery – The Ghosts of Pripyat

This album has been a long time coming. I had an offer to record a solo album during the recording of Misplaced Childhood in 1985 and while making the Brave album at Miles Copeland’s chateau in France I was offered a deal to make an instrumental album for his “No Speak” label, however, I decided to record the first Wishing Tree album instead.
